More information

Mergr was founded in 2008 by Sam Nelson as a niche database of private equity firms (PrivateEquityFirms.com), after Nelson ran into the same problem firsthand while sourcing acquisition targets at two Los Angeles-based PE firms: existing research tools were either incomplete, expensive, or required a lengthy sales process. The platform has since expanded into a broader resource covering public and private companies, their M&A activity, and the legal and financial advisors connected to those deals. Mergr's research team adds new records, transactions, and connections daily, and the company is explicit that it does not partner with or license data from outside third parties, positioning its internally sourced, human-verified data as the core differentiator against larger, automated competitors.
